Write blogs that matter to your brides
We are focusing on how to create purposeful blog posts that your brides are going to want to read. Just getting traffic to your blog from Pinterest isn’t enough.
We want that traffic to take action with your business. You must have a way to connect with that traffic, and gain a way to continue communicating with your new audience members for the future. It’s all about continuing to develop the relationship, and build your “know, like, and trust factor.” Brides want to book those that they trust and connect with.
Each blog post should have ONE purpose. Your blog post should provide highly valuable content on the post’s topic, and then guide your reader to take ONE action, based on what they just read. The end results should be for them to eventually book you!
Ideally the action that your reader takes, should result in you gaining their name and email address, at a minimum. This allows you to follow up, and continue building the relationship through future emails and hopefully it turns into a consultation. Don’t confuse your readers by asking them to take more than one action. Lead them towards the one action item that is your focus for that post.
There are three main things that you must choose from when creating your blog post’s purpose:
1. Promote your email list.
If you’re not sure what the purpose of your blog post should be, I suggest focusing on your email list as your default purpose. Lists are not only something you collect at wedding shows! You can start building it on your own. In order to collect your own client list, offer potential brides the option of signing up for a freebie in exchange for an email. Think about it, at a wedding show you are usually offering a freebie such as sign up here for a chance to win a Bridal Bouquet, Engagement shoot and other may Freebies. This option should not stop at the wedding show! You are able to still get brides and grooms to sign up for Freebies through out the year using your wedding blog! Sign up here to get a complimentary budget worksheet, as an example of something a wedding planner can use! Building your the list means you are directly gaining contact information from potential brides that are ready and willing to purchase from you. By focusing on email list building, you now have their contact information to develop the relationship, continue to provide value, and eventually booking them in the future.
The most common way to promote your email list in a blog post, is to provide a content upgrades in exchange for your readers email address. Think of content upgrades as an extension of your blog post (things like worksheets, checklists, etc). Your content upgrade should provide the additional resources that make it easy for your reader to take action on your post.
For example- If you write a blog post about the importance of creating a wedding budget before starting the planning process, you may end the blog with – click here to download a free budget worksheet- The link should be directed to a link that will prompt them to provide an email. We use Leadpages! If you would like help with all this, and are not sure how to take your business to the next level, consider working with us! NOT SURE WHAT TO BLOG ABOUT- WE HAVE 45 TOPICS TO GET YOU STARTED.
2. Promote your Product or Service
You may have some blog posts where you’re ready to directly promote your product or service. This often works well if you’re writing a post that contains a style shoot, lots of customer testimonials, or a “sneak peak” of your product or services.
Brides love to see what you have done and how you work, after each post consider adding a lead page with a “sign up here for a complimentary consultation to see how we can help you create your dream wedding! ” Again this should go to a lead page only- the power of a lead page is to get them to sign up without all the unnecessary destruction of a your website.
3. Promote your Portfolio and Testimonial page
If you’re a service based business, you should promote your portfolio and testimonial page every chance you can! Believe me when I say brides are first clicking on your about us page and your portfolio after reading your blog! I think if those pages allow it, link your contact us page to get more of a click through! Take a look at this amazing portfolio by Rachel A Clingen! Notice how, if you click each photo, it takes you to a blog post? She is really using this to her advantage! We love her work!
We encourage you to ensure that each of your blog posts asks your readers to take action in some way. Don’t be afraid to edit your old blog posts to add new content upgrades and calls to action. This is especially important to do if you notice that one of your blog posts is getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest. Maximize that traffic and make it work for your business!
