DIY Vintage Wedding
You will love everything about this elegant DIY vintage-inspired wedding.
If you are part of a few wedding Facebook groups, trust me when I say you can find some of the most beautiful weddings ever.
Weslie and Jonny’s vintage-inspired wedding is everything I needed to help me go through my day.
As I spent my day scrolling through Facebook, I immediately fell in love with this wedding.
An elegant vintage wedding exudes timeless charm and sophistication, merging the nostalgic beauty of days gone by with the romance of a new beginning.
I knew I wanted to feature it on the blog.
Honestly, everything about this wedding came together beautifully.
She spent around 20k for 115 guests.
Her wedding was in Ohio, meaning prices may vary depending on location.
From the bride:
“I DIYed all my decor and florals for under 1k, and I wanted to share photos and advice for future brides on decor!”
Every detail of this elegant vintage wedding was meticulously curated to evoke a sense of timelessness and intimate charm.
We love Gabriella Sutherland Photography‘s photos of Weslie and Jonny’s big day.
Letβs take a look!
Incorporating simple vintage details into your wedding can add a touch of timeless elegance and charm, making your special day truly memorable.
And no doubt this bride did precisely that.
A vintage-inspired wedding dress with intricate lace, long sleeves, or a high neckline can evoke the grace and sophistication of bygone eras.
I fell in love with Weslie’s dress.
Complementing your gown with vintage jewelry, such as a delicate pearl necklace or antique earrings, can further enhance your look.
The bridal party did not disappoint.
We love these cute, get-ready bridal outfits.
It goes with the bride’s theme perfectly.
These bridal outfits are perfect if you are planning a vintage-inspired wedding theme.
DIY Vintage-Inspired Wedding Details
The bride is creative, as she DIYed all her signage by designing it on Canva (with a free trial), printing it at home, and displaying it in clear acrylic sign holders from Amazon (total cost $25).
I LOVE the way the crossword and the newspaper programs came out.
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, as you must focus on significant elements like the venue, logistics, and an influx of Pinterest inspirations.
It’s crucial not to overlook the small touches that add a unique touch to your special day.
And I can assure you that this bride did a great job focusing on those little intricate details to enhance the wow factor of this wedding.
Another popular question was how the bride created the “Snack and Solve” Puzzle for the cocktail hour.
She made this beauty with her mom, and it cost $50.
The “Snack and Solve” Puzzle was on a whiteboard with plexiglass on top.
Directly from the bride:
” I got a whiteboard from Amazon, drew the crossword, and printed papers with the clues. Then I got a piece of plexiglass from Loweβs and fixed that on top with double-sided mounting tape! I designed the crossword format using a free website and found many using Google. I brainstormed different questions and put those in, and it generated a crossword for me! We used a ruler and a Sharpie to draw the crossword on the whiteboard.”
I love this.
It’s perfect for keeping guests entertained during cocktail hour while you are taking photos.
The Wedding Ceremony
For couples seeking to infuse their wedding day with a touch of nostalgia, a vintage-style wedding ceremony offers the perfect blend of elegance, romance, and whimsy.
Whether youβre drawn to the roaring twenties, the sophisticated forties, or the bohemian seventies, a vintage-themed wedding allows you to transport your guests to a different era, creating an unforgettable experience that celebrates love with a nod to the past.
And everything about this wedding ceremony was elegant and genuinely authentic.
They started with private vows!
Wedding Day Timeline:
We love a well-planned wedding day schedule.
Sticking to a wedding day timeline is crucial to ensure your special day goes as smoothly and stress-free as possible.
And I love that she included a wedding day get-ready timeline in her schedule.
So, if you ever want to know how long the bride should be ready before the ceremony, refer to this timeline.
This is the timeline Weslie and Jonny used for their DIY vintage-inspired wedding.
- 8:00: Girls start getting ready/eat breakfast
- 10:00: Guys start getting ready
- 12:30: Lunch
- 2:00: Getting ready pictures
- 2:30: First look/private vows/couple portraits
- 3:00: First look with parents
- 3:05: Wedding party and family portraits
- 4:15: Break before the ceremony for final touchups
- 4:30: Ceremony begins
- 5:00: Cocktail hour begins (we did family portraits during this time, and then we snuck away to have a few minutes alone together to celebrate being married before introductions)

And what a fun wedding this was.
The bride summed it up best:
“I graduated 03.23.2024! It was the best day ever, and I wouldnβt change a thing.”
Vintage-Inspired Wedding Details
Honestly, everything about this wedding was on point.
The bride nailed every little detail about her big day.
Married in March, the bride went to thrift stores several times per month leading up to the wedding and bought most of her linens, plates, charcuterie board supplies, florals, and vases there!
In total, she spent approximately $350 at thrift stores.
If you love thrifting, it’s a great way to get vintage-type wedding items.
She bought her wedding florals at Hobby Lobby when they were having sales for about $250.
Those consisted mainly of eucalyptus, babyβs breath, and lavender.
She made a good decision seeing how beautiful those wedding bouquets turned out.
Dad was not out of luck.
He, too, participated in this beautiful DIY vintage-inspired wedding by making the card box and multiple easels for me by following YouTube videos.
The welcome sign with their names was $70 on Etsy.
To tie in this DIY vintage-inspired wedding, the bride focussed on thrifting all her decor items.
Instead of chargers, she used white doilies that she found by thrifting (total cost $10).
She made generations of love tables very cheaply by printing the photos at home and putting them in frames she found by thrifting (the total cost was $20).
The newspaper programs on Canva and printed them at home (total cost $10).
She also shared the complete timeline and songs they chose in the hopes of helping other couples.
CEREMONY MUSIC (live piano and violin instrumentals):
- Wedding party processional – Work Song by Hozier
- Flower girl/ring bearer and bride – Turning Page by Sleeping at Last
- Unity ceremony song – The Blessing by Kari Jobe
- Recessional – Language by Porter Robinson
