7 am-12 pm: Getting Ready

The morning of your wedding day is the perfect time to relax and enjoy some pampering.

Schedule hair and makeup appointments for yourself and your bridesmaids, and don’t forget to eat a light breakfast to keep your energy up.

The perfect morning wedding day getting-ready timeline will depend on how many bridesmaids you have and your discussion with your hair and makeup artist. 

Some need more time, and others will bring a team to get things done. 

11:00  am: Getting ready photos

1 pm-2 pm: First Look and Photos

Consider doing a first look with your partner before the ceremony.

2 pm-3 pm: Ceremony Setup and Guest Arrival

3:30 pm-4:30 pm: Cocktail Hour and More Photos

After the ceremony, guests can enjoy a cocktail hour while you and your partner take more photos.

This is also an excellent time to freshen up and take a moment to soak in the experience.

4:30 pm-5:00 pm: Reception Setup, Sitdown and grand entrances

While you’re finishing up photos, your wedding planner or venue staff should be finishing up with the reception venue setup.

Guests should be ushered to the venue to be seated. 

Someone should be designated to help with the seating. 

Ensure you have a seating chat to help the process move along. 

Otherwise, people will have difficulty finding good seats, couples may get separated, and the process simply might take a lot of time. 

The idea is to have everything run smoothly. 

5:15 pm-5:20 pm: Bridal Party Intro 

The bridal party introduction is a highly anticipated moment during a wedding reception.

It is the perfect opportunity to showcase the extraordinary people who have played a significant role in your lives. 

Play a hyped-up song to the energy. 

The bridal party introduction is a fun and exciting moment for guests and sets the tone for the rest of the reception.

The energy and enthusiasm of the bridal party can help guests feel more relaxed and ready to party. 

5:20 pm-5:25 pm: Couple Entrance + Newly Weds First Dance

Once you arrive, it’s time to make your grand entrance as newlyweds.

This is a great time to have your first dance and welcome your guests.

5:30 pm-7:30 pm: Dinner and Speeches

The Father of the bride breaks the ice with a welcome toast. 

Enjoy a delicious meal with your guests, and take some time to listen to speeches from your loved ones.

This is also an excellent time to cut the cake and have your parent dances.

If you are doing the mother-son dance or the father-and-daughter dance, do it after the speeches. 

Your bouquet toss and garter toss can be done here as well. 

7:30 pm-10 pm: Dancing and Celebrating

This is the perfect time for the dance floor to open up. 

Now it’s time to hit the dance floor!

Enjoy the rest of the evening dancing and celebrating with your guests.

Consider having a late-night snack or dessert bar to keep the party going.

10 pm-11 pm: Dancing, Last Call and Farewell

Is 3 pm good for the wedding day timeline?

However, 3 pm is a popular start time for wedding ceremonies, allowing for a comfortable amount of time for the rest of the day’s events.

It’s best to consult with your wedding planner or venue coordinator to determine the optimal timeline for your specific wedding.

How long before the ceremony should the bride be ready for a 3 pm wedding?

Be sure to read that. 

But basically, the bride should aim to be ready at least an hour before the ceremony begins, around 2 pm.

This will allow time for any unexpected delays or last-minute touches.

I usually encourage the bride to be ready precisely 2 hours before the wedding. 

Work with your wedding photographer. 

What time should your guests arrive for a 3 pm ceremony?

It is recommended for guests to arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony start time, which in this case would be 2:30 pm.

This allows for unexpected delays, such as traffic or difficulty finding parking.

Additionally, it gives guests time to find their seats and settle in before the ceremony begins.

If it’s a hot summer day, I recommend having refreshments such as signature drinks as guests arrive and even fans.

If it’s a winter wedding, the guests can drink something warm as they settle in to find seats.
