Issa Rae and Louis Diame Got Married
I loved watching Insecure back when it first came on HBO and when I saw Issa Rae’s wedding photos on her Instagram page the other day, I almost lost it.
My favourite actress is married.
I didn’t even know she was seeing anyone.
And to be honest, I don’t think a lot of people knew either.
She’s like Beyonce (who I also love) and opted to keep her own romances under the radar.
I don’t blame her one bit.
If you are unfamiliar with this amazing entrepreneur, Issa Rae is an American actress, writer, and producer who I first came across on her YouTube web series, Awkward Black Girl!
As a woman of colour who is always looking to identify with powerful black women on TV, it was nice to watch something that I could easily relate to.
The show follows the life of J (Issa Rae) as she interacts with co-workers and love interests who place her in uncomfortable situations.
She then went on to co-creator, co-writer, and star in the HBO television series Insecure!
I loved Insecure and I am still extremely sad that’s it’s all over.
You can definitely catch her in other great movies such as The Lovebirds (you must see this one), The Photograph (oh you need to see this one too) and so many other amazing movies.
As you can see, yes, I love Issa Rae!

So who is Issa Rae’s Husband?
First of all, I didn’t even know she was dating or seeing anyone.
And when I love a celebrity, I typically dig deep to get more details if I can.
Not with Issa, she kept that secret on lockdown.
So when I saw the now-famous Instagram Post that she had married her longtime partner, Louis Diame, a Senegalese businessman, in a private ceremony in France, I was over the moon.
Like what?
And the question on everyone’s mind was obviously “who is Issa Rae’s husband?”
Well, I was one of those people.
I wanted to know too!
Not much is really known about this good-looking man.
But apparently, he is an independent Banking Professional located in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
It’s definitely hard to confirm exactly when and how he met Issa or how long they’ve been together as not much information has been made public.
But we seem to know (or think) that they must have been dating for a while now, possibly back when she first started her Awkward Black Girl Youtube web series.
That was around 2011 or 2012.
Louis was first referred to as Issa’s boyfriend back in 2012 when The Washington Post mentioned she was dating the then-29-year-old, which means he’s 37 as of right now in 2021.
Either way (it’s not our business), but we are simply excited for them and their new chapter as a married couple.
Wedding Details And What We Know
As you know, Issa Rae surprised the world on her Instagram post which has over 3.2 million followers with the news that she had gotten married over the weekend in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the south of France.
We know that she was engaged around 2019.
Speculation of the engagement started back in 2019 when Issa Rae appeared on the cover of Essence magazine wearing a sizable ring on her engagement finger.

I also saw that same engagement ring on her finger when she appeared on the cover of Bust.
And if you scroll through her Instagram photos, you can see a few pictures with her wearing her gorgeous diamond engagement ring.
She then went on to share with the world that she and Diame tied the knot on her Instagram on July 26, 2021!
The announcement was epic!
Rae captioned the post:
A) Impromptu photoshoot in a custom @verawang dress.
B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed.
C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband.
Big thanks to @whiteedenweddings for being so gracious and accommodating and making this feel so real and special.
How epic is that caption?
Her post on Instagram currently has over 50, 000 comments mostly from her fans and celebrity friends.
The post also features a collage of her amazing wedding photos captured by the talented Lauren Fair.
Issa wore a Vera Wang’s couture ballgown and a gorgeous veil made of Chantilly lace and hand-sewn crystals which gave it that full-on princess moment while marrying her now-husband.

She truly looked like a Princess in her Vera Wang wedding dress.
The sweetheart neckline ballgown definitely suited her perfectly!
The light ivory chapel-length veil with hand-placed Chantilly lace completed the look beautifully.

Let’s not forget the bridal party.
I loved the colours on them too.
The bride and groom set the stylish tone for their timeless wedding right down to what their bridal party wore.

Louis absolutely looked stunning in his red velvet tuxedo with paisley lapels, which complemented what her bridesmaids wore – beautiful, dusty pink gowns, which matched the dreamy pink facade of the French Riviera wedding venue.
As you can see, everything was perfectly planned to make this moment magical.
Relationship goals for sure.
