The first step to ensuring you stick to your budget is to actually have a budget and a plan. Then you might want to download an app like the SpendApp which will actually help you with your expenses and keeping track of what you are spending.
Now that we have that out of the way, how can you entertain friends on a budget?
Stay in and have fun //1
You absolutely do not have to go out to have fun. You can stay in, share a few snacks and have a BYOB party. This will save you so much more money and you have much more fun that way. Provide light snacks especially if alcohol is getting served. Also, ensure everyone has a safe way to get home without driving if drinking is included.
Skip dinner events //2
Dinners tend to be so much more expensive than if you went out for breakfast or even an early lunch. If you do not have the money to spend on dinner then opt for lunch dates. A steak at a restaurant is absolutely much more expensive than a club sandwich or chicken salad. Keep it light and your wallet will thank you.
Have a potluck //3
I love potlucks! I organize them often and my guests just love them too. This is a chance for everyone to create and come up with creative dishes or just have them prep their own specialties to serve on the day. It’s always fun to see what yummy dishes everyone comes up with.
Hang out at the beach //4
No money to spend? Why not organize fun games at a park or beach? This way everyone is soaking in some sun, you are enjoying a fun workout and chilling with friends. This will save you money as you are actually not spending a dollar. When I went to France last year, everyone practically spent their time at the beach. Honestly, zero dollars spent.
Have game nights // 5
This is a bit harder to organize but once you get a hang of it, it can be a really fun event to put on. Every other weekend night or once a month, you will get someone to host a game night where you play games that the host has prepared. Some ideas include Monopoly, Scrabble, or plain old fashion game of cards.
