Best Man Responsibilities
What are some of the best man duties you need to be aware of?
When you’re the best man to one of your greatest friends or family members, you have been given a great deal of responsibility.
The wedding day is the most important day for the best man to stand beside the groom and support him in whatever he may need.
When the stresses of pre-wedding nerves or tension brought on by extended family members start to trouble the groom, you’ll need to step up and be prepared for any wedding emergency.
What Duties Does A Best Man Have?

As well as all your other responsibilities, they are a few things you can bring with you on the day to relieve any possible stress!
Here are some things you should bring on the wedding day to relieve any anxieties and ensure the festivities run smoothly.
1. Any of the groom’s prescriptions
On the day of the ceremony, there are a million details from a year of planning going through the groom’s mind.
It’s likely that important parts of his daily routine will be forgotten.
The best man has a responsibility to make sure that the groom is taken care of when the chaos of the wedding day is wearing him down.
Important medications like hair loss treatments or any other supplement he may need to take daily could be forgotten.
With the bride-to-be not around, you’ll be there to give him a reminder.
2. Pain reliever
Stress and anxiety built up from planning and pre-ceremony jitters can take their toll on your mental and physical health.
Not to mention that with family and friends all coming into town, the groom and guests probably had a long night before the wedding filled with alcohol and a lack of sleep.
If that’s the case, you’ll want to nurse any stress headache or mild aftereffect of drinking with a pain reliever.
The last thing the groom should be worried about is a headache, so help him feel his best by having a pain reliever on hand.
3. The Wedding Rings
Being the best man often leaves you in charge of one of the most prized wedding possessions: the wedding bands.
You’re being trusted to transport these rings throughout the day and make sure that they are accounted for.
Every time you change locations, verify that the rings are where you put them.
If you’re keeping them on your body, put them in a ring box so that it’s noticeable in your pocket.
Or, keep them on your finger so that they don’t go missing in action.
4. Anything the bride told him not to forget
The bride will definitely give the groom a vast amount of items to bring and times to be at different places.
With all the stuff going on, it’s expected for the groom to forget something like his shoes or a check for the caterer.
As the best man, you should get a list of details to remember and items to bring to the venue.
Don’t assume that he won’t forget items as trivial as a pocket square or as critical as the tuxido itself.
Keep the list close by throughout the day and check it periodically to guarantee that nothing is neglected.
5. Emergency hair kit
Whether the couple’s having an indoor or outdoor ceremony, transporting to and from different places, along with wind and rain, can cause a bad hair day for the groom.
He’ll want to be confident in his appearance for the ceremony and will want to look back on pictures that he’s proud of.
Bring an emergency grooming kit with you that contains hair gel, mousse, hairspray, and a trimmer or razor in case of any grooming disaster.
Everyone needs a good touch-up every once in a while, so ready yourself for a hair catastrophe and supply him with something to fix it.
