Venue: $3,950
Lizzie chose the stunning Chandelier Farms in Terrell, Texas, as her wedding venue.
She secured a lower rate by opting for a Thursday in a slow peak month.
If you are on a very tight budget, finding off-peak months to get married is a great idea to save money on a wedding.
The venue cost included a $450 down deposit for security.
It was the perfect spot for all the 175 guests she invited.
Food and Cake: $1,400
One of the most impressive aspects of Lizzieโs wedding was the food.
How do you feed 175 guests and stay under budget?
Even though you are searching for cheap wedding ideas, you must ensure that the food you plan to serve your guests is delicious and satisfying.
Wedding food is essential and at the top of my priority list.
The bride and her husband are huge fans of Chipotle, so they served a Chipotle-style meal.
Lizzieโs mother and her best friend from Puerto Rico cooked delicious dishes, including chicken, pork, lettuce, corn salsa, chips, rice, beans, cheese, and all the toppings.
They even bought Chipotle bowls from Amazon to complete the experience.
How creative is that?
In addition to the savoury dishes, they served seven different types of aguas frescas (homemade fruit juices) and a table full of Mexican desserts and candy from Mexico.
They had a wedding cake and “sheet cake” to ensure enough for everyone.
What a fantastic way to provide food on a budget.
Wedding Photography: $1,200
Capturing the special moments of the day was a priority for Lizzie, so she hired Maci Neal Photography.
Although Maciโs prices have since increased, Lizzie managed to book her for $1,200 at the time.
She did a fantastic job capturing the wedding photos.
Her wedding photography combines documentary and editorial techniques, creating a unique blend often known as ‘dictatorial.’
This method elegantly merges capturing authentic, candid moments with a refined, artistic flair.
If you love this style of photography like we do, you will love working with Maci Neal Photography.
Videography: $1,000
To complement the photos, Lizzie also invested in a videographer to document the day.
A wedding video captures your special day’s emotions, movements, and sounds, providing a dynamic and immersive experience that photos alone cannot.
This allowed them to relive the memories through both pictures and videos.
DIY Wedding Decor: $600
Lizzie and her husband had always envisioned an intimate wedding that reflected their unique personalities.
They also wanted to keep the wedding for under $10000.
As they planned their big day, they quickly realized that the costs associated with professional wedding services were spiralling out of control.
Determined to keep their budget in check while creating a memorable and beautiful celebration, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
With a love for crafting and a passion for creativity, Lizzie embarked on a DIY journey to design and create their wedding decorations.
This allowed them to save significant money and added a unique, heartfelt touch to their wedding day, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
Lizzieโs creativity shone through in her wedding decor.
She sourced many decorations from Hobby Lobby (including a beautiful wedding sign), online stores and other thrifty places to create a wedding of her dreams.
She kept her decor costs low by shopping sales and using coupons while still creating a stunning atmosphere.
She did a fantastic job keeping her wedding decorations on a budget with the help of DIY.
Florals: $250
Flowers are usually costly.
Lizzie turned to Michaelโs for her flowers, where she found a great deal with a 60% off sale.
She made 12 bouquets for her bridesmaids and still had plenty of flowers to do other things.
She also draped greenery around the arch, adding a touch of natural beauty to the ceremony.
Wedding Dress: $220
Lizzieโs wedding dress was an actual labour of love.
She opted to have her wedding dress handmade, only purchasing the materials, which totalled $220.
This saved money and added a personal and unique touch to her wedding attire.
Suit: $210
The groomโs suit was another budget-friendly find, costing just $210.
By shopping smart and looking for deals, they could dress the groom stylishly without breaking the bank.
Miscellaneous: $300
Finally, Lizzie allocated $300 for miscellaneous expenses, covering unexpected wedding costs during the planning process.
A wedding is expensive, so it’s essential to prepare for these inevitable fees so they don’t sneak up on you.
It is a good idea to be prepared.
Total DIY Wedding Cost: $9,130
