1. Banff, Alberta
A beautiful honeymoon destination in Canada is Banff National Park, easily accessible from the gateway city of Calgary.
Banff is Canada’s most popular and receives millions of tourists per year.
So while you likely won’t have the most intimate honeymoon, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Canadian Rockies, admire the blue waters of the many glacier lakes, and partake in an assortment of activities.
For example, a great way to begin your honeymoon is by kayaking around the tranquil waters of Moraine Lake.
Here, you can take in the beauty of the surrounding landscape and savour some alone time with your significant other.
Afterward, it’s a short bus ride to Lake Louise, where you can embark on one of the many hikes available or go ice skating across the lake if you’re visiting during the wintertime!
You can also discover Lake Louise and Moraine Lake on this guided tour from Banff.
Enjoy spectacular views of Sunshine Village, a premier ski destination in Banff National Park, with a chairlift and gondola combo ticket.
Alternatively, if you prefer to visit an area that isn’t filled with crowds of people, head over to Lake Minnewanka.
This lake is typically much less crowded than the other two as it has plenty of space to spread out.
After exploring, eat at one of the many restaurants in Banff Town.
For instance, the Bison offers its guests fantastic food, a lively ambiance for guests, and excellent service!
Or, if you’re looking for a bar to dance the night away or want to enjoy some live music, check out Rose and Crown Bar.
The best part is their rooftop, which lets you take panoramic views of the surrounding area!
To complete your honeymoon experience, consider staying at Fairmont Banff Springs.
This luxurious hotel provides a wide array of amenities and is an excellent spot to relax after a day of sightseeing.
So, if you’re looking for a lovely place to spend your honeymoon, consider Banff National Park!

2. Vancouver Island, BC
Vancouver Island is one of Canada’s most stunning honeymoon destinations, from Tofino’s rustic Pacific coastlines to Victoria’s charming cobblestone streets.
Located in southwestern British Columbia, the best way to get to Vancouver Island is via a romantic ferry ride through the Gulf Islands.
Serviced by BC Ferries, boats leave from several ports in Vancouver and other areas of BC daily.
Alternatively, you can fly directly to an airport on Vancouver Island from airports across Canada.
You can stay in BC’s enchanting capital city, Victoria, or escape to a secluded refuge surrounded by nature.
Some of the best places to stay on Vancouver Island include:
- The Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria: Stay here if you can. This is Victoria’s most famous hotel, located right on the water near the BC Parliament building. The Empress is known for its darling Victorian tea lounge, where you and your honey can dress up, eat delicious pastries, and sip English tea. This is the perfect spot to stay if you want to feel like English royalty while exploring the cobblestoned streets of Victoria.
- The Shoreline Tofino: Stay in your own ocean-view A-frame cabin at this boutique resort in the heart of Tofino. Known as the surf capital of Canada, Tofino is a breathtakingly beautiful secluded town along the Pacific coast. The Shoreline is the perfect place to stay as the luxurious A-frames look out on the picturesque Tofino inlet while still being a short walk or drive from restaurants and bars downtown Tofino.
- Seine Boat Inn on Alert Bay: Located on a small island northeast of Vancouver Island, this stilt hotel sits atop the water. The Seine Boat Inn is the definition of rustic luxury. The hotel served the community as a dry goods store in the 1940s and is now a wonderful place to immerse in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
- The Beach Club Resort in Parksville: This oceanfront resort overlooks the Parksville boardwalk along the strait of Georgia. You can watch gorgeous sunsets and spot islands in the distance from your room. Parksville is a scenic spot to relax on your honeymoon and a central base to explore the rest of Vancouver Island, like the nearby old-growth forests and caves of Port Alberni.
There are so many memorable things to do on Vancouver Island.
Some of our favourites you can do while on your honeymoon in Canada include:
- Whale watching: The beautiful bodies of water surrounding Vancouver Island attract pods of orcas, gray whales, humpback whales, and minke whales each year, making it one of the best places in the world for whale watching.
- Run through a waterfall at Mystic Beach: Mystic Beach is one of the most magical places on Vancouver Island. The 45-minute hike through the forest leads you to a stunning sandy beach along the calm Salish Sea. The best thing to do at the beach is run through a small freshwater waterfall into the ocean below. You can even camp on the beach if you’re up for some adventure.
- Indulging in high tea at the Empress: One thing you cannot miss during a Vancouver Island honeymoon is sharing high tea at the grandeur Fairmont Empress Hotel in downtown Victoria. Make a reservation, dress to the nines, and transport back to Victorian England while sipping tea with your love.

4. Newfoundland and Labrador, St John’s
Newfoundland is a treasure buried on the far North Atlantic coast.
Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, Newfoundland’s still pristine coastline, with numerous shorebirds and cliff’s-edge vistas, offers a private escape for your first trip as husband and wife.
If you want the best honeymoon destinations in Canada, put Newfoundland on your list.
Dotted with rustic fishing villages and timeless scenery, the island has dreamlike road trip opportunities.
Against all expectations, the island has seductive accommodation choices.
Alt Hotel St. John’s on the waterfront of the modern city centre offers exciting views of the harbour and bay beyond.
Those willing to go a bit further North will be rewarded with a real bubble of peace at the lavish Fogo Island Inn.
It isn’t easy to reshape Canadian cuisine without raising eyebrows.
Still, two restaurants in St John’s have been pulling it off for some time.
The cozy Mallard Cottage is an affordable, locally sourced eatery.
After all, there’s nothing as romantic as a “fishwich” for two!
For true romance, consider a night out at Oliver’s.
The small menu adds contemporary tweaks to classic seafood & pasta dishes while offering you a selection of local beers.
Other romantic places to stay in Newfoundland:
Although bar hopping on George Street can be seen as an attraction, there are other things to do outside St John’s in the Atlantic province.
Besides the mythic Iceberg Alley in the East, Gros Morne National Park is just a few hour’s drive away.
The mountainous hikes of the park, with their terrace views of the valley below, will be enormously rewarding to two active love birds.
Moreover, if you hesitate, NFL can offer a honeymoon in Canada and a European getaway.
There might be no Eiffel Tower here, but the croissants and French charm remain in neighbouring Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
Despite being sometimes forgotten about, there’s an air of authenticity to coastal life here that is simply enchanting.
A honeymoon in Canada, specifically Newfoundland, is perfect for tranquillity-seeking nature lovers.
Cozy up in a chalet (or a fancy hotel!) and enjoy this vacation of a lifetime.

As Canada’s capital city, it’s not hard to find things to do in Ottawa that will impress, create memories, and encourage the spirit of love and romance as you begin your life together.
When choosing the top hotel for your Ottawa honeymoon, few compare to the grandeur of the Fairmont Château Laurier.
This majestic, historic hotel is located in downtown Ottawa next to the river and close to the famous Byward Market and Parliament Buildings.
Book a traditional room or a spacious suite, and enjoy spectacular city views from the comfort of your room.
Unwind at the Holtz Spa and dine in class in Wilfrid’s Restaurant, both right onsite.

6. Lake Louise, Alberta
There are many beautiful honeymoon destinations in Canada, and Lake Louise is one of them.
With a dreamy landscape of snow-capped mountains and a stunningly beautiful lake, who can deny the attraction of Lake Louise for a honeymoon spot?
Located in Banff National Park, the Fairmont brand offers two lavish hotels, the Banff Springs and Chateau Lake Louise.
While one resembles a Scottish castle, the latter provides a fantastic locale on a premium lake.
The Chateau might set you back over CAD 1000 per night, but you’ll have the benefits of walking along the lake, hiking and enjoying fine dining without getting in your car.
The hotel dates back over 100 years, but its interior is stunning.
Many rooms have lake views, and you might want to request one.
The sunrise at Lake Louise is a bucket list event not to be missed.
You can easily access the spectacular show from your hotel by staying at the lake instead of downtown Banff.
As the sun rises, the golden glow lights up Victoria Glacier.
It’s an experience like none other.
If you are honeymooning in summer, you can enjoy a sunrise canoe rental at a discounted rate when staying at the Chateau.
For relaxation, why not splurge for a couples massage at the Fairmont Spa?
You’re on your honeymoon, after all.
A year-round destination, newlyweds can stay at the Chateau in winter.
While you won’t see the turquoise hues of the lake, you can have a romantic moment on a sleigh ride, go dog sledding, and ice skating on the frozen lake.
But you will need to bundle up as temperatures can hit –30C.
It’s more opportunities to cuddle for warmth.
Lake Louise is relatively tiny and lacks the premium dining that Banff offers.
However, the hotel has some lovely dining options.
The Walliser Stube offers European dishes from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria.
Alternatively, the Fairview Restaurant has a luxurious setting overlooking the famous lake.
So if you are looking for romantic honeymoon destinations in Canada, go to Lake Louise.

7. Cape Breton, NS
Cape Breton is just off the coast of the eastern end of Nova Scotia.
It’s the perfect place to escape for a romantic honeymoon around a maritime island known for its Indigenous and Acadian history, culture, beautiful nature and coastline.
Honeymooners can spend a few days to a few weeks driving a loop of the island on the Cabot Trail.
This epic 300-kilometre driving route was finished in 1932.
It passes through national parks as well as small fishing villages like Cheticamp.
Spending 3 days in Cheticamp is a great way to get to know the history and culture of Cape Breton.
Check into the romantic and cozy Maison Fiset House or the Auberge Baywind Suites.
In Cheticamp, you can visit local museums like Les Trois Pignons Cultural Center, taste delicious seafood in local restaurants like the Seafood Stop, and use the town as your base for hiking beautiful nearby trails.
An easy, rewarding trail to walk is the Gypsum Mine trail.
This trail is just 5 minutes from town, bringing you to what appears to be a lake.
But actually, it was initially a gypsum mine.
The walk to the lake and back takes about 45 minutes.
If the weather is warm, be sure to bring your swimsuit to go for a dip in the clear blue water.
For a romantic honeymoon excursion, go whale watching out of Cheticamp or another region of Cape Breton.
During the spring, summer and fall, it’s possible to spot different types of whales, including minke whales, humpback whales, and even some dolphins!
Cheticamp is also the perfect base for visiting Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
The entrance to the park is 10 minutes from town.
In the park, you can explore beautiful highlands, walk hiking trails, visit gorgeous rock beaches, admire coastal views of cliffs and the ocean, and stop at various lookout points for panoramic views.

8. Algonquin Provincial Park, ON
With so many unique honeymoon destinations in Canada, it can get hard to pick one.
If you are an outdoorsy couple looking to get out in nature for spectacular views on your honeymoon, look no further than the famous Algonquin Provincial Park.
Commonly known as Algonquin among Ontarians, the park consists of over 7,000 kms (4300 miles) of untouched wilderness and 1500 small islands on lakes within the park.
Located just 2.5 hours north of Toronto, Algonquin is close enough to a major city to be easily accessible, but far enough away that it’s still secluded, with an abundance of natural beauty of the classic Ontarian landscape.
For those looking to sleep under the stars, there are campsites and cabins for rent at specific locations inside Algonquin Provincial Park that you can book through the park website.
Another option is to stay in the nearby town of Huntsville, just a 30 min drive from the entrance to the park.
Huntsville is a quaint town on the river where you can find bed and breakfasts, hotels, boutique shops and eateries, and fine dining.
It’s a great place to relax and have a nice meal with a glass of wine after a day in the wilderness.
In terms of accommodations in Huntsville, I suggest the following:
Insider tip: Be sure to make an early-morning stop at Henrietta’s bakery outside Huntsville on your way to the park to find mouth-watering home-baked goods
There are a number of hiking trails in Algonquin, depending on the difficulty level.
Some of the longer hikes allow you to view some of the highest hills in the park, giving you beautiful views of the surrounding forests from above.
The summit Booth’s Rock (a 5 km or 3.1-mile loop) is one of the most picturesque settings, offering a panoramic view of the valleys and river below.
Another popular hike is Track and Tower, from which the summit (a 7.5 km or 4.6-mile loop) gives you a view of the cliffs, and islands in Cache Lake.
For a romantic honeymoon, consider taking a private canoe ride offered through Algonquin Outfitters on Lake Opeongo.
You and your new spouse will be surrounded by the peaceful calm of the vast lake, with no one else in sight.
No motorized vehicles or cottages are allowed on the water, allowing Algonquin to be a calm, unspoiled setting where you can appreciate the natural beauty of Ontarian and enjoy a romantic getaway surrounded by breathtaking views.
The mirror reflection of the lake on the water, the natural shoreline and the sounds of nature will leave you and your partner with the peaceful relaxation that should come with every honeymoon.

12. Sunshine Coast, BC
The Sunshine Coast in British Columbia is a dreamy honeymoon destination if you and your partner love fresh air, the outdoors, and seafood.
The trip begins with a stunning 40-minute ferry ride from Vancouver, departing from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver and arriving at Langdale in the built-up town of Gibsons.
If you plan to avoid driving, book accommodation in Gibsons and use the local public transport.
The best option is to have access to a car, though, so you have more flexibility to visit lesser-known places, especially the beautiful lakes.
In Gibsons, dine at Molly’s Reach, which is famous for being a filming location in the 1970s TV show, The Beachcombers, or enjoy oysters at Smitty Oyster House at Gibson’s Marina.
Try local craft beer and cider at Persephone Brewery.
Then walk it off at Soames Hill/Knob Hill for incredible views over Keats Island and Vancouver Island.
Sechelt is next on the list after a stop in Roberts Creek for a walk down the beach.
You can rent kayaks and SUP at Sechelt Inlet and watch the seaplanes land with a Clamato in hand at The Lighthouse Pub.
Stretch your legs at Smugglers Cove or sunbathe at Halfmoon Bay, which is close to the town.
Sechelt is another bigger town, perfect as a base.
Head to Madeira Park to do a boat tour of Pender Harbor or perfect your swing during a game of golf.
Then it’s time to hop between Garden Bay Lake and Katherine Lake, bring a book, and relax.
For a different take on nature, stop at Skookumchuck Narrows, which puts on a daily show of rapids, and if you’re lucky, you might see a crazy kayaker catching a ride.
It takes 50 minutes to walk through a shaded wooded area to the rapids.

For those who wanna dance, head to Dragonfly Nightclub or Club Seven.
When planning where to stay in Niagara Falls for your honeymoon, for the most romantic location, stay at a hotel with stunning views of the falls.
For that, I recommend the following:
Stay further from the Clifton Hill area if you are on a budget.
No matter where you stay, book in advance, especially if you plan to visit during peak season.

Any honeymoon in Whistler should include a Peak 2 Peak Gondola trip.
The 1430-foot gondola runs between Whistler and the beautiful Blackcomb Mountains and lasts around 11 minutes end-to-end.
You can still plan for a kiss or two while appreciating the glorious views!
If you want to take a break from all the excitement in Whistler Village, you can stroll along the Vallea Lumina.
It’s an incredible night walk lit with holograms, lasers, and luscious plant life.
If you prefer something more active, why not spice up your honeymoon with paddleboarding on Alta Lake?
When you’re hit with the evening munchies, why not head to the Red Door Bistro or the Bearfoot Bistro?
Both are beautiful places to settle in with a glass of wine.
The latter is lovely as it’s a fine-dining spot with delicious local eats, a top-notch wine list, and bougie décor.
You may want to splurge on a couples’ skiing getaway if you’re visiting during winter.
As Whistler is known for its winter activities, it’d be rude not to, right?
Cascade Lodge is probably your best option for a high-end stay, but Crystal Lodge and The Westin are equally beautiful.
And honestly, who wouldn’t want to indulge in a touch of the après lifestyle after hitting the slopes as newlyweds?
Finish your adventure with a trip to the Scandinave Spa or The Spa at the Four Seasons Resort.

Nova Scotia is known for its seafood, and Wolfville is no exception.
Juniper’s Food and Wine has an excellent menu of fresh fish, including Atlantic salmon.
The Church Brewing Co. is a favourite for beer and gluten-free offerings.

Or go east and travel the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton for fantastic sunset views every night.
If you’re staying in Wolfville, the most romantic spot is the Inn at Grand Pre Winery.

The Fairmont’s own spa is the best location for this.
