Today we are looking at the different marketing advantages and disadvantages between Facebook & Instagram. Which of these social media platforms is best for your wedding business? Instagram or Facebook for wedding marketing? For years Facebook was the most popular marketing platform for most wedding industry professionals, especially knowing the fact that most brides were on this platform talking & looking for wedding advice. But Facebook went ahead and changed a few things on how business pages were presented to their fan base. Facebook has changed the way your posts are viewed by your followers with only a few percentages seeing any posts you put up at all. They did this to encourage paid advertising on its platform. So which one is the best way to go?
Instagram is very engaging when it comes to getting attention. It’s extremely simple, clean, based around great photography and easy to use. Best of all, unlike Facebook every single one of your followers will see your posts in their feed. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Instagram and the power it has for your business. You need to post extremely high quality photos on Instagram otherwise it won’t work. If you would like to know what to post on Instagram to encourage interactions- read this blog! Downside of Instagram – you can’t really add a website link that is clickable in order to allow your clients to visit your site. All links will need to be added to your profile each time you want a client to be directed to certain sites to see more about a particular picture you posted- extremely annoying. Especially if you forget to post the link!
Brides are extremely visual and Instagram is a great site to post your best work. This is an extremely great tool to attract your ideal brides to your wedding business (as long as you are posting great quality posts of your work and your website represents what is on your Instagram page). I have booked 4 brides this year since I incorporated Instagram as one of my marketing strategies. Remember to stay with your brand and ensure your page is aesthetically curated! Hash tags work extremely well on Instagram so use it to your advantage. You can use up to 30 hash tags- I use them all (seriously)!
You are now able to share your Instagram photos to Facebook!
Facebook is still our number one most used social marketing platform. I love the fact that Facebook has a pretty good looking advertising platform that you can really target to your ideal market and direct them back to your website or service page. Instagram also offers advertising options through Facebook but we do not find it visually pleasing.
A lot more brides are still on Facebook as opposed to Instagram. It is an easier platform for the me to discuss and ask advice to their fellow brides to be and vendors. In terms of targeting your posts to brides, Facebook beats Instagram hands down!
Which do we prefer: If you are connecting on a more personal level, Instagram is the way to go. It’s something we will keep using as we have received 4 brides from it and we are still looking at better ways to capture more clients. Utilizing your hash tags is definitely working for us!
Facebook: Is our number one marketing platform as we can really target our work to our niche and we are able to measure our efforts easily. If your main goal is to get more out of your marketing efforts then Facebook is the way to go. I would suggest posting to Instagram at least once a day.
They are both great platforms. Which do you prefer? Tell us in the comment below. If you really want to boost your wedding business, download our E-Book right now! We have 50 other great ways to market your wedding business right here! And it’s free!
