We’ve come up with a few ways to help you get started with creating your frugal yet fashionable wedding.
First impressions of your Frugal Wedding
The first impression your guests are going to have of your wedding is from your wedding invitations, so make these fit in with your theme of the day. You don’t have to go all out on wedding invitations either, minimal designs or even handcrafted invitations can help cut the costs but still give that first good impression that your wedding is going to be fabulous.
Brides that are planning a frugal wedding typically go for the DIY look. Doing your own wedding invitations can save lot’s or you can find some on Etsy like these ones or this one. These are perfect for a Frugal wedding.
Try to stick to one theme for your frugal wedding to create a fashionable feel for your big day. From your invitations to the table settings keep everything in line with your wedding theme, if you try to bring two or three different elements into your decorations that’s when it can start to look more frugal than fashionable.
To cut costs don’t go overboard and DIY when you can, table place cards are a great way to start DIYing if you’re not a seasoned crafter. DIYs are perfect for those planning a frugal wedding.
The Wedding Dress
A lot of people don’t like to scrimp on their wedding dress but there are amazing deals to be had if you look in the right places. Just because you want to have a fashionable wedding doesn’t mean you have to wear the latest Vera Wang dress.
If you are really planning a frugal wedding, then do not overspend. Have a look at special sale days at your local wedding boutique or look online, you can get amazing stylish and fashionable dresses perfect for your wedding day at a better price.
And if you’re worried about the fit you can always take them to be altered at a fraction of the cost of buying made to measure.
Wedding Flowers for Frugal Brides
Every season brings a new trend in flower arrangements for weddings, so try not to get caught up in keeping up with the ever-changing styles. Instead, pick a look that you can replicate easily without breaking the flower budget and keep with your frugal wedding theme.
For example, Candice Lake, a contributing style editor at Vogue used wildflowers in her arrangements bringing a fashionable boohoo touch to her big day back in 2013. Not only is this example easily replicated but you can pick wildflowers from your garden or nearby field and it will cost you next to nothing to create your own arrangements.
The Wedding Reception
More and more people are opting to have a more casual reception, donning more comfortable attire and flatter shoes to make sure that they get the best out of their night.
If you can, think about having a separate dress to change into for your reception so you can be more comfortable and look fashionable at the same time. Meghan Markle did this for her wedding to Prince Harry.

And don’t think that two dresses mean more money, if you use the tip to look online you will be able to find something that will be perfect for any budget, and for dancing the night away in.
